Making sure there are no leaks in your roof
As the rain and the snow of winter season comes closer most people have to seriously start thinking about their roof. The roof is a part of your house that people really can’t do without. But it is the part of the home most people overlook. The only time people notice it is if there is a leak or it needs to be replaced or repaired. But with winter quickly coming it wouldn’t be wise for people to wait for that.So here are a couple of ways you can use to check to find out if yuo have a leak in your roof.
The first thing you have to be able to know is whether the spot was caused by condensation or a leak. We get calls all the time for my Poway roofing company for people who think they have a leak. But the moment we do get out there what we see is that it was a condensation stain instead of a leak. The quick way to see if it is condensation is you will see it doesn’t have a design. Now a true leak you will find makes a circular shape. So if the spot you find is circular in shape that is a sign that it is a leak.
The thing you want to check next are weak areas of your roof. Places like by chimneys are a known weak spot and it tends to leak there. In our Vista roofing service we always check those areas because it is so common that it leaks there. It is an easy fix by just making sure you seal that area.
Finally you are going to want to look for all the spots penetrated by a nail.Quite often when the nailing of the roof is done there will be spots that aren’t sealed well. This is the cause of leaks that we find in my Encinitas roofing service. This is another quick fix when you find the spot you can just seal it up.
So those were some of the ways you can use to be sure this winter you don’t have any roof leaks.
